Class Notes: Hybrid course: Expect to meet primarily in person on the Monday/Wednesday 9:35-10:50AM schedule. Some weeks may involve synchronous online meetings at that same time or asynchronous work.
Class Notes: In this course, we will learn about how people learn new languages. We will consider linguistic, cognitive, and sociocultural factors of language acquisition, break down stereotypes about multilingual language users, and think critically about various approaches to teaching and learning English as an additional language. We’ll read research articles and talk about theoretical concepts, but we’ll do it in an accessible and engaging way. This can be a great “first” TESOL course, and most students take it at the same time as ENG 343.
